I was sort of kidding about that Nader vs. Hillary thing…okay, mostly I wasn’t kidding, but there’s really no mistaking it. Yes, Bill Clinton is more likable. Yes, he’s more charismatic. But when it comes right down to it, when you see both Bill and Hill on screen together, you can’t help but think, the lioness is much more dangerous than the male.
It turns out that the thing about Cate Edwards supporting Hillary was just a 9-year-old’s sense of humor. It was a joke. But even if John Edwards’ daughter was in favor of someone else, I don’t get what the big deal was in the first place. It looks like Giuliani’s kids will almost certainly be voting for anybody else, and I don’t care about that, either. This may be perilously close to Father’s Day to be making this point, but what’s that old line? “No man is a hero to his valet.” Well, it seems to me that ought to go double for a man’s family.
I’ve always been a little dubious about the idea that every candidate has his family 100% behind him. They can’t all be right to offer that support; some of them should know better. In the case of a 9-year-old, I really don’t get it. She can’t vote, anyway.
