Romney's New Ad is Misleading
In Mitt Romney’s new ad in Iowa , he says, “Politicians in both parties have proven they can’t control spending.” This suggests that both parties share responsibility. Well, it’s too early to judge the current Democratic legislature; and when there was a Democrat in the White House, spending was under control. So shared responsibility for the financial mismanagement isn’t credible. During six years of all-Republican rule, spending went insane. It is a hard case to argue that what the Republicans need now is a fast-talking, slick candidate with no scruples who by his own admission has a dubious track record with the truth, who showed no particular ability in money-management as a governor, who repeatedly changes his core principals to fit the times, and who values victory above honor.
Okay, granted, it worked for the Democrats, but it’s still pretty hard to argue.
