The Feds have arrested South Carolina State Treasurer Thomas Ravenel for buying half a key of cocaine, but not to sell…just to pass around as party favors, evidently. This is a man whose commitment to the War on Drugs, or, for that matter, to the Grand Old Party, obviously came somewhere after his commitment to Get Down and Party. Ravenel made the buy during the down-time between running for the US Senate in 2004 and running for State Treasurer in 2006. "In only a few months, Thomas Ravenel has gone from spoiled rich kid buying his way into office to common street criminal," South Carolina Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler said.
And this is the guy who was handpicked by former Mayor Giuliani to run his campaign in South Carolina ? Given South Carolina ’s early position in the nominating process, he was one of the top ten people in Giuliani’s campaign. This seems like an opportune time to recall Bernard Kerik. He had ties to organized crime, and he was Giuliani’s pick to run our national security operations. With friends like Giuliani’s, who needs enemies? Who do you suppose America's Mayor would pick for Postmaster General? The Unabomber?
